What is SelfCommunity?

SelfCommunity is a cloud-native Italian platform for creating and managing digital Communities, including fully custom-built ones. It enables brands, companies, and organizations to build a dedicated social space - fully customizable and under their own brand - for customers, employees, associates, or followers.

It includes features for feeds, groups, events, courses, polls, live streaming, loyalty, gamification, private messaging, and advanced analytics.

  • maintain 100% control over the platform's features and data

  • deliver high levels of engagement and loyalty through integrated social networking technology

  • effectively organize Community content and its distribution

  • monitor, analyze, and reach your audience with advanced tools to obtain key business metrics and insights

  • integrate the Community into any external digital ecosystem via complete REST APIs and Frontend SDK

It is developed entirely by Quentral Srl, by a fully Italian team.

Who is SelfCommunity for?

SelfCommunity is designed for companies and organizations that want to build authentic, lasting relationships with their people — whether customers, employees, partners, or associates. The platform addresses the needs of different profiles within the same organization.

CMOs and Marketing teams find in SelfCommunity a powerful tool to increase engagement, strengthen loyalty, and generate first-hand zero-party data. The Community becomes a direct, owned channel to engage prospects and customers, distribute valuable content, activate gamification mechanics, and turn behavioral data into strategic growth.

CTOs and Technology teams appreciate a solid, flexible, and integrable cloud-native architecture: complete REST APIs, event-driven webhooks, composable Frontend SDKs, and a dedicated staging environment. SelfCommunity adapts to any existing technology stack and can be embedded as a headless component into websites, mobile apps, or e-commerce ecosystems.

HR Managers and People teams find in SelfCommunity's Social Intranet a collaborative space to connect the team, share knowledge, strengthen company culture, increase the sense of belonging, and facilitate onboarding within the organization. A concrete tool to improve internal communication and productivity, even in distributed or hybrid work environments.

No brand is too small or too large: SelfCommunity scales from the GO plan, designed for those just starting out, to fully customized Enterprise solutions.

What features does SelfCommunity include?

SelfCommunity is a comprehensive platform that covers every aspect of a digital Community's life. Its core features are organized into six areas.

Content and interaction — activity feed, posts, articles, targeted polls, reactions, comments, post sharing, scheduled posts, one-to-one and one-to-many private messaging (open or limited to connections), themed groups (public or private), content categorization with category following, internal search engine, and geographic content positioning.

  1. PLANS AND PRICING

What plans are available and how much do they cost?

SelfCommunity offers three plans designed to accompany the growth of your Community, from the launch phase through to fully customized enterprise solutions.

The GO plan at €60/month is the ideal starting point for those who want to launch their Community without risk: it includes up to 100 registered users, all the essential features to start and manage the Community, AI-assisted setup, and a free 14-day trial with no credit card required.

The Professional plan at €800/month is the solution for those who want to grow seriously: up to 10,000 monthly active users, full access to REST APIs, webhooks, Frontend SDK, integrations with external ecosystems, dedicated onboarding for launch, and a Professional SLA.

The Enterprise plan is built for organizations with advanced needs: unlimited and customizable users, SSO, custom integrations with CRM and e-commerce, core platform customization, headless mode for embedding into any web property, dedicated technical support, and an enterprise SLA. Pricing is defined based on the project.

All prices are VAT excluded. A discounted rate is available for annual plans.

Want to find out which plan is right for you? Explore the full plan comparison or request a Demo to speak with our team.

What is the difference between registered users and Monthly Active Users (MAU)?

Registered users are all accounts created on the platform, regardless of recent activity. Monthly active users (MAU) are the users who have performed at least one login or action in the Community during the reference month.

The GO plan has a limit of 100 registered users. The Professional plan includes up to 10,000 MAU, with the option to add more at €140 per 1,000. The Enterprise plan has customizable thresholds based on the project.

Can I change my plan at a later stage?

Yes, you can change plan at any time without losing data. The SelfCommunity team supports the transition to ensure full continuity of service. The process is gradual and guided. You will never have to manage the migration on your own.

Is a free trial available?

Yes. The SelfCommunity GO plan includes a free 14-day trial, with no credit card required. You can request it to explore the platform, configure your Community, and evaluate its potential independently.

If your needs require advanced features, such as user segmentation, APIs, or a high number of active users, we recommend requesting a Live Demo with our team to find out together how SelfCommunity can adapt to your goals.

  1. CUSTOMIZATION

How customizable is SelfCommunity?

SelfCommunity is 100% customizable, at every level.

At the visual level you can configure every single interface element directly from the Console: primary and secondary colors, general background, navigation bar background, box background, text color, and typography. You can also set the logo, title, tagline, background images, default profile image, and copyright text. Every change can be applied in real time with a live preview for both desktop and mobile, without any developer involvement.

At the functional level you can enable or disable individual features with simple toggles from the Console: types of publishable content (posts, articles, polls), comments, post sharing, private messaging, scheduled posts, geographic content positioning, automatic video playback, category following, category sidebar, and much more.

At the structural level you can configure the social graph model (follow, reciprocal connection, or no social graph), user registration and onboarding flows, role-based permissions (Administrators, Editors, Moderators, Publishers), loyalty program rules, email and broadcast campaigns, content visibility, and registration thresholds.

At the strategic level you can leverage the user tagging system for audience profiling: each user can be associated with one or more tags — assigned manually, automatically at login via SSO, or acquired through behavior within the Community — which define their membership profile. Tags become the engine for targeted content distribution: every piece of published content can be directed to users carrying the relevant tags, ensuring that each person receives information, updates, and notifications relevant to their role, interest, or segment.

For organizations with more advanced needs, the Enterprise plan allows core platform customization and the development of fully bespoke components.

Can I use my own domain and brand?

Yes, from the GO plan onwards. SelfCommunity supports the connection of a custom domain, the configuration of a dedicated corporate mail server for all user communications, and the full application of your brand identity: logo, color palette, fonts, Community name, and tagline. The platform appears in every respect as your own product, with no visible references to SelfCommunity.

Is a mobile app available?

Yes. SelfCommunity includes by default a fully branded Progressive Web App (PWA), installable on iOS and Android directly from the browser, without going through the stores. It supports push notifications, works on any device - mobile, tablet, and desktop - and updates automatically without any manual intervention.

For organizations that require a presence on the official stores, it is possible to request the publication of a native app on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. This option is available on request for Professional and Enterprise plans.

Why does SelfCommunity provide a PWA by default instead of a native app?

The choice of PWA as the standard is deliberate and advantageous for the majority of use cases. Compared to a native app, the PWA guarantees: instant updates without store approval processes, immediate availability for all users without a mandatory download, significantly lower development and maintenance costs, and a user experience of equivalent quality on any device.

For organizations that have a store presence strategy or an audience that expects a dedicated app, the native option remains available on request.

  1. INTEGRATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY

Does SelfCommunity provide APIs?

Yes. Professional and Enterprise plans include full access to SelfCommunity's REST API v2, actively documented and maintained. The APIs cover the entire platform surface: users, content, groups, events, notifications, loyalty, and analytics. They are accompanied by event-driven webhooks for real-time synchronization with external systems, and a composable Frontend SDK for building custom interfaces. The complete technical documentation is available at developers.selfcommunity.com

Does SelfCommunity support Single Sign-On (SSO)?

Yes. Single Sign-On is available on the Enterprise plan and supports JWT and OAuth protocols. It allows users to access the Community using credentials already in use in their corporate system, e-commerce platform, or any other identity provider. It also supports automatic user segmentation at login: tags and roles are assigned automatically based on access credentials, eliminating any manual profiling operations.

Can SelfCommunity integrate with external digital ecosystems?

Yes, this is one of the platform's key strengths. The API-first architecture enables integrations with CRMs, e-commerce platforms, marketing automation tools, HR systems, ERPs, and any other digital tool. Event-driven webhooks allow real-time synchronization between SelfCommunity and third-party services — every relevant event in the Community (new registration, content publication, event participation, loyalty threshold reached) can automatically trigger actions in external systems.

The Enterprise plan adds headless/embedded mode, which allows the Community, or individual components, to be incorporated directly into the interface of your website, app, or e-commerce platform, without the user perceiving they are on a separate platform.

What is meant by headless architecture?

A headless architecture separates the platform's backend - the logic, data, and features - from the frontend, meaning the visual interface with which users interact. In practice, with SelfCommunity in headless mode you can use all Community features (feed, groups, notifications, loyalty, analytics, tagging) integrating them directly into the interface of your website, app, or e-commerce platform via Frontend SDK and embeddable components, without the user perceiving they are on a separate platform.

This approach is particularly strategic for brands that want to offer a seamless and consistent digital experience, while retaining the full infrastructural and functional value of SelfCommunity. It is available on the Enterprise plan.

Does SelfCommunity offer data analytics features?

Yes. All plans include a modular analytics dashboard with data on users, content, interests, gamification, polls, engagement, retention, and social density: meaning the quality and depth of connections between Community members.

Professional and Enterprise plans add advanced Insights, enabling correlation of Community data with specific business objectives, analysis of content reactions, integration of external data sources, and export of complete reports. Social Analytics is also accessible with differentiated role-based access levels: the GDPR data controller, for example, can access sensitive information such as user email addresses.

  1. DATA, PRIVACY AND GDPR

Does my Community data truly belong to me?

Yes, 100% and without exception. SelfCommunity adopts a zero-party data model: all data generated by Community users: profiles, interactions, interests, behaviors, poll responses, membership tags, belongs to the Community manager, not to the platform.

SelfCommunity does not use this data for its own purposes, does not share it with third parties, and does not use it to train models or feed external advertising systems. You can export the entire dataset at any time.

Where is the data physically stored?

Data is stored on European cloud infrastructure, in compliance with GDPR regulations. GO and Professional plans use shared high-availability infrastructure, with an SLA guaranteeing 99.5% uptime. The Enterprise plan can include dedicated hosting solutions based on project requirements.

Is the platform GDPR compliant?

Yes. SelfCommunity is GDPR compliant by design, meaning compliance is built into the platform's architecture, not added as an afterthought. This includes: data minimization, granular consent management, role-based access control, right to erasure implementable by the administrator, and a clear separation between the Community manager's data and end users' data.

The platform also provides a dedicated GDPR Data Controller role with controlled access to sensitive user information, such as email addresses, within the Social Analytics panel. All legal documentation: terms and conditions, privacy policy, SLA, cookie policy, is available in the Legal Documentation section.

What is zero-party data and why is it strategic?

Zero-party data is information that users share consciously and voluntarily with a brand: declared preferences, poll responses, selected interests, membership tags chosen during onboarding, participation behaviors. It differs from third-party data (purchased) and first-party data (passively collected through tracking), because it stems from a direct and transparent relationship with the user.

In a SelfCommunity Community, every interaction: a vote in a poll, a group a user joins, a completed course, a followed category, an acquired tag, generates zero-party data of the highest quality. This data is more accurate, more ethical, and increasingly valuable in a context where third-party cookies are disappearing and privacy regulations are becoming more stringent. It is the fuel for personalization, segmentation, and the strategic growth of your business.

  1. LOYALTY, ENGAGEMENT AND GAMIFICATION

How does the SelfCommunity loyalty program work?

SelfCommunity's loyalty program is a system natively integrated into the platform, with no need for external tools. It operates through a fully configurable points and reward threshold mechanism managed from the Console: the administrator defines which actions generate points: publishing content, commenting, participating in an event, completing a course, inviting a new member, reaching a connections threshold, and which thresholds unlock rewards, exclusive access, or special privileges.

The most distinctive feature is the ability to activate hybrid triggers: points can be awarded not only for activities within the Community, but also for external signals such as a purchase on an e-commerce platform, a store visit, or an action recorded in a CRM, creating a loyalty ecosystem that is fully interconnected between digital and physical touchpoints. This transforms the Community from a simple conversation space into the central engine of the brand's loyalty strategy.

What is meant by gamification in a Community?

Gamification is the application of game-typical mechanics: points, levels, leaderboards, rewards, exclusive access, within non-gaming contexts, such as a brand Community or a corporate social intranet. The goal is to increase users' intrinsic motivation to participate, contribute, and return.

In SelfCommunity, gamification is expressed through the loyalty program with configurable points and thresholds, badges and polls as a tool for active participation and zero-party data collection. These are not superficial mechanics, but a system designed to build lasting participation habits and measure the impact on engagement over time.

How is Community engagement measured?

SelfCommunity offers a modular Social Analytics dashboard that measures engagement from multiple angles. The main available indicators are: monthly active users (MAU), return rate, content published per user, event and course participation rate, interactions per piece of content (reactions, comments, shares), loyalty program performance and accumulated points, poll results, and social density: the quality and depth of connections between Community members, an exclusive SelfCommunity indicator that measures how truly alive and interconnected the Community is.

Professional and Enterprise plans add advanced Insights, enabling correlation of engagement data with specific business objectives, integration of external data sources, and export of complete reports for management.

  1. MODERATION

What type of moderation does SelfCommunity offer?

SelfCommunity adopts a multi-level moderation system combining manual tools and artificial intelligence, designed to maintain a safe and collaborative environment even in large Communities.

At the user level, Community members can report inappropriate content directly from the platform. Each report is collected and made available to the moderation team for rapid review.

At the staff level, administrators and moderators have access to a dedicated Console panel for complete management of content and users: they can remove posts, comments, and media, suspend or ban users, manage received reports, and configure moderation rules.

At the automated level, the AI Moderation Bot, activatable from the Console in the Integrations section, monitors in real time all content published in the Community, instantly flagging potentially inappropriate, off-topic, or guideline-violating content before it spreads through the feed. This significantly reduces the manual workload of the team and response times.

How many moderators does a Community need?

There is no fixed number: it depends on the size, activity, and nature of the Community. In general, a proprietary Community - such as those built on SelfCommunity - requires far less moderation than an open public platform, because users are profiled through tags, have consciously chosen to be part of it, and the environment naturally tends to be more collaborative and on-topic.

With the support of the AI Moderation Bot, a single moderator is often sufficient even for large Communities. Professional and Enterprise plans support an unlimited number of moderators, with granular roles and permissions configurable for each one.

How does AI moderation work?

SelfCommunity's AI Moderation Bot is a proactive moderation tool activatable from the Console in the Integrations section. It analyzes in real time all content published in the Community (posts, articles, comments, messages, and media) comparing them against the moderation rules configured by the administrator.

When it detects potentially inappropriate, off-topic, or guideline-violating content, it immediately flags it to the moderation team for rapid review, before it spreads through the feed and reaches other users.

This proactive approach reduces response times, lightens the manual workload of moderators, and helps maintain a safe, relevant, and collaborative environment in the Community, even in the presence of high volumes of user-generated content.

  1. SUPPORT

How does technical support work?

The type and level of support vary based on the plan subscribed.

The Professional plan includes a dedicated ticketing system with a Professional SLA, guaranteed response times, and dedicated onboarding for the Community launch, conducted by the SelfCommunity team. Onboarding covers guided platform configuration, definition of the category and tag structure, visual theme setup, and support through the first content publications.

The Enterprise plan includes a dedicated technical account manager, priority ticketing, an enterprise SLA with guaranteed 99.5% uptime, and early access to beta features. For complex projects requiring custom integrations, SelfCommunity's development team is available for bespoke development activities.
